The Odyssey” is an epic poem written by the ancient Greek poet Homer in the 8th century BCE. It tells the story of the Greek hero Odysseus and his ten-year journey home after the Trojan War.

The poem begins with Odysseus stranded on the island of Ogygia, where he is being held captive by the nymph Calypso. Despite being offered immortality and the chance to stay on the island forever, Odysseus longs to return home to his wife, Penelope, and his son, Telemachus.

As he sets out on his journey, Odysseus faces many challenges, including a Cyclops, a group of suitors vying for Penelope’s hand in marriage, and the wrath of the sea god, Poseidon. Along the way, he receives help from the goddess Athena and makes allies with the Phaeacians,
